Ontario PNP: Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)

Comments · 127 Views

Ontario is the center of Canada’s economic, social, and political life. For the prospective immigrant, Ontario is the dream destination and also the processing time of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program is faster than other Canada immigration program.

Ontario stands out as Canada's premier destination for immigrants from around the globe, with nearly 40% of the country's population calling it home. This popularity is driven by several factors, including abundant job opportunities, a robust economy with high-income prospects, and a richly diverse population. At the heart of facilitating this immigration wave is the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), which plays a pivotal role in addressing skill shortages, encouraging investment, and ensuring the successful integration of newcomers into the province.

Established in 2007, the OINP has evolved significantly from its early days of nominating just 1,000 newcomers annually to now facilitating around 8,000 nominations each year. Its structure comprises both base and enhanced streams, each designed to cater to different immigration pathways. Enhanced streams are intricately linked with Canada's Express Entry system, providing candidates with an additional 600 points, thus greatly enhancing their chances of obtaining permanent residence status. On the other hand, base streams require applicants to directly engage with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for their immigration process.

Ontario's diverse immigration categories offer a range of options for prospective immigrants, including the Human Capital Category, Masters or PhD Category, Employer Job Offer Category, and Business Category.

The Human Capital Category, which encompasses skilled workers, graduates, and French-speaking individuals, is further divided into sub-streams. The Ontario Express Entry sub-stream, a part of the Human Capital Category, includes programs such as Human Capital Priorities (which encompasses the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC)), Skilled Trades for relevant Ontario work experience in eligible trade occupations, and French-Speaking Skilled Worker Program for individuals with strong language skills in both French and English.

To qualify for these programs, applicants must meet minimum requirements, including demonstrating financial stability to support themselves and their families, expressing intent to reside in Ontario, and fulfilling specific criteria tailored to each stream within the Human Capital Category. These criteria ensure that the program attracts individuals who can contribute significantly to Ontario's economy and integrate seamlessly into its social fabric.

How it works:

Once you determine your eligibility for a specific stream, your first step is to register for a One-key account on the OINP website.

After creating a profile, initiate your application through the portal by selecting the respective file number for the desired stream. Ensure to upload all required documents as part of the application process.

For candidates applying through the Express Entry streams, it's crucial to maintain a valid profile until nomination.

For Express Entry Streams: Following nomination, you will receive it through your Express Entry profile. Accept the nomination to gain an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, ensuring an invitation to apply for permanent residence through Express Entry in the subsequent draw.

For Graduate Streams: Post-nomination, applicants must apply for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) within six months, including the nomination approval letter and certificate with the application.

Masters and PhD Category

The following programs are not integrated with Express Entry. Applicants must create a profile and register an expression of interest (EOI):

• Masters Graduate Stream: Designed for individuals with Masters degrees from an Ontario University.

• PhD Graduate Stream: Intended for individuals holding Ph.D.'s from an Ontario University.

Note: Both the Masters Graduate Stream and the PhD Graduate Stream utilize Ontario's Expression of Interest (EOI) system.

Application Fee: CAD $1,500

Processing Time: Approximately 30-60 days

The Employer Job Offer Category comprises three distinct programs:

·         Foreign Worker Stream: Tailored for skilled workers.

·         International Students: Geared towards recent graduates from Ontario
post-secondary institutions.

·         In-Demand Skills Stream: Targeted at intermediate skilled workers in specific sectors like agriculture, construction, trucking, and personal support.

·

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a full-time, permanent job offer in an eligible occupation in Ontario;
  • Must have work experience, license or other authorization that is required to perform the job;
  • Must intend to live in Ontario;
  • Employer must meet additional requirements (business, revenue, employment).

How it works:

To begin, create a profile on the OINP e-Filing Portal and register your Expression of Interest (EOI).

Ontario conducts regular provincial draws to invite top-ranking candidates from the pool. If you receive an invitation, you'll be notified in the portal and must submit your application within 14 calendar days through your One-key account.
