South Korean swimming standouts Hwang Sun-woo and Kim Woo-min (above, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province) have set their sights on winning the 2024 World Championships and the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Hwang Sun-woo and Kim Woo-min attended the "Thank you, Team KOREA" event to encourage the athletes of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games at Lotte Hotel Jamsil in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters before the event, the duo said, "We are happy to attend such a meaningful event, and we will now focus on our training and strive to perform well."

Hwang Sun-woo and Kim Woo-min exceeded expectations in Hangzhou, raising the profile of Korean swimming.

Hwang won all six events he competed in at the Hangzhou Asian Games, taking home two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals. He also set new records in five of the events he competed in, with the exception of the 100-meter freestyle.

Kim Woo-min won gold in the men's 800-meter freestyle relay and the men's 800-meter freestyle, followed by a gold in the 400-meter freestyle, making it a three-peat. His silver medal in the 1500 freestyle fell short of his goal of a quadruple, but he became only the third South Korean to win three swimming titles, joining Choi Yun-hee (New Delhi 1982) and Park Tae-hwan (Doha 2006-Guangzhou 2010).

In recognition of his performance, Kim was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for Team Korea at the Asian Games.

With their first successful Asian Games under their belts, the pair now have their sights set on next year's Paris Olympics.

"The Olympics are only about nine months away, so we can't let go of the tension. "After the national team selection, we are expected to train at the Jincheon Athletes' Village from December. We don't have any training plans yet."

"My first goal is to get on the podium at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar in February. At the Olympics, I will try to win the 800-meter freestyle relay as well as individual events."

"The postponement of the Asian Games by one year gave us the opportunity to prepare thoroughly for the competition," said Kim Woo-min. "I hope to reach the podium at the World Championships first and then win the gold medal at the Olympics, which is every athlete's dream." 스포츠토토맨
