"Mental breakdown due to rain in eyes, will come back stronger"

Lee Do-hyun of South Korea leads during the Men's Sport Climbing Combined Final at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games at the Yangshan Climbing Center in Kirchao, Shaoxing, China on June 6. The result is a silver medal for Lee Do-hyun.

Lee Do-hyun, 21, has won South Korea's first medal in men's sport climbing at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Lee won the silver medal with a total score of 118.7 points, including 64.6 points in bouldering and 54.1 points in lead, in the men's sport climbing combined (bouldering and lead combined) final at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Saturday at the Heqiaoyangshan Climbing Center in Xiaoxing, Zhejiang Province, China. This is the first medal for the Korean sport climbing team at the Asian Games. However, it was not the second consecutive podium finish for a Korean sport climber, following Chun Jong-won, 26, who won gold in the men's combined at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games, the first time sport climbing was included in the Asian Games program.

Lee Do-hyun of South Korea concentrates on his lead during the men's sports climbing combined final at the Hangzhou Asian Games at Heqiaoyangshan Climbing Center in Xiaoxing, southwest China's Zhejiang Province on Saturday.

Sport climbing is a discipline in which athletes are ranked by their performance on a rock wall. The sport is divided into three categories: bouldering, in which athletes must climb a wall in a small number of attempts using only predetermined holds (hand and foot holds); lead, in which athletes are judged on how high they can climb in a single attempt in a given amount of time (six minutes); and speed, in which athletes start climbing at the same time and win by reaching the top first. At this year's Asian Games, only two of these events were held: the 'combine' event, which combines lead and bouldering scores, and speed.

The qualifiers and semifinals featured a rivalry between 'Korean newcomer' Lee Do-hyun and 'Japanese newcomer' Anraku Sorato (17). In the qualifiers on the 5th, Lee totaled 200 points, just 0.1 points ahead of second-place Sorato (199.9), but in the semifinals on the 6th, where the difficulty level was increased, Sorato scored 184.7 points to Lee's 141.3.

In the final, which was more difficult than the semifinals, Sorato's dominance was evident. Bouldering is divided into four runs (M1 through M4), each worth 25 points for completion, for a total of 100 points, and Sorato scored 99.7 points here. Bouldering is penalized by 0.1 points for each second attempt after a failed first attempt. Sorato completed all four bouldering courses with a total of only three mistakes and was only penalized 0.3 points. Lee was penalized 35.4 points in bouldering, his strongest discipline, for a score of 64.6.

Even with the lead, he couldn't turn it around. He was the only one of the day's nine finalists to break 50 points in the lead (54.1), but Sorato scored 88.1, nearly 100 points, to clinch the gold medal. After falling behind in both bouldering and lead, Lee had to settle for silver. Lee's senior and defending Asian Games champion, Chun Jong-won, scored 69.6 in bouldering and 16 in lead for a total of 85.6 points, two points behind China's Fan Yufei (87.6), and finished fourth, missing out on the bronze medal.

Lee, who won silver in his Asian Games debut, emerged as a "newcomer" after beating senior Chun Jong-won in the Korean national team trials leading up to the Hangzhou Asian Games. Lee was introduced to sport climbing when his parents started running a climbing center when he was five years old, and he began competing in middle school. He rose to the top of the sport after taking first place at the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Bouldering 4th World Cup this year. He was the first Korean male sport climber to win gold at a World Cup since Chun Jong-won in 2017.

Sorato, who beat Lee at the event, is now considered the best in the world. Sorato is the world No. 1 in the men's combined events (No. 1 in bouldering and No. 1 in lead). Lee is ranked sixth in the world in the combined (second in bouldering, 12th in lead). Sorato is on the shorter side at 168 centimeters, but he measures 181 centimeters with his arms outstretched, which is longer than Lee's height (176 centimeters). His body type is specialized for sport climbing, allowing him to easily grab holds from a distance.

I was disappointed with the environment of the final. It was raining and windy at the start of the bouldering final. "Sorato is a great athlete, but I had my own advantages, so I was confident (of winning)," said Lee, "but when I tried the second bouldering run, rain got in my eyes and I fell, and I panicked a lot from then on. It's a shame that I couldn't keep my composure and didn't get a good score in bouldering."

Lee Do-hyun wins silver in the men's sport climbing combine at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

"The silver medal is great, but I couldn't win the men's combined title for the second time in a row after the 2018 Games. I will use this as an opportunity to work harder and do better next time (next year's Paris Olympics)."

The Korean team will try to win a medal in sport climbing on Sunday. Seo Chae-hyun, 20, and Sasol, 29, will compete in the semifinals of the women's combined at the same venue. 카지노사이트존
