Is the Premier League's top scoring 'monster striker' not world class?

Former England national team defender and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has come under fire for his comments devaluing Elling Holland.

Holland made his Premier League debut for Manchester City last season, scoring 36 goals in 35 games to become the club's all-time top scorer. This season, he's doing well with 19 goals in 25 games, but he's not on the same pace as last season.

Holland has also scored six goals in eight Champions League games, taking his tally to 30 goals in 37 official matches. That's still an impressive scoring output. There are fewer than five players in the world who can match him.

Carragher devalued Holland in an interview with The Telegraph. "He is ultimately a luxury player. It's clear he's the best goalie in the world, but he's not world class yet. To be world-class, he needs a lot more attributes."

This means that while Holland is the best striker in the world right now, he still lacks the skill set of Pele, Maradona, and other all-time greats.

"Compare him to Thierry Henry, Luis Suarez, and Harry Kane, the best players of the last 20 years," says Carragher. Holland is a prolific goal scorer, but he's still very immature as a player."
