REVOLUTION MONUMENT



Originally the building was meant to be a legislative chamber, but the construction of the Monumento a la Revolución was interrupted by the Revolution, and there were plans of demolishing the building, but instead it was modified and given a new role. Unveiled in 1938, it contains the tombs of the revolutionary and post-revolutionary heroes Pancho Villa, Francisco Madero, Venustiano Carranza, Plutarco Elías Calles and Lázaro Cárdenas.

NATIONAL ANTHROPOLOGY MUSEUM

Between 1940 and 1960, an intense intellectual movement flourished that sought to build a Mexican identity based on the dignity of the indigenous heritage that had been looked down on. For this reason, the movement wanted to create a great museum that tied together all indigenous Mexican heritage, especially its archaeology.

MERCADO LA MERCED

his is the place were the docks for the Xochimilco trajineras were loaded with fresh fruits and vegetables. There were always street markets. When street vendors were made to leave the Zocalo they relocated to La Merced. Today, that market has become the largest retail market in the city: the La Merced Market.
