The OET Reading sub-test is divided into Parts A, B, and C, each requiring different reading skills. Parts B and C are careful reading tasks. Part B tests the ability to understand the gist and identify details in six short texts, each with one question. These texts may include policy documents, guidelines, manuals, emails, or memos. Thorough reading and comprehension of details are essential here.

Part C is more challenging, assessing the ability to understand opinions and attitudes. This includes recognizing explicit statements and implied meanings, understanding lexical references, and differentiating between various opinions within the text. Slower, more in-depth reading is required compared to the faster pace in Part A and the surface-level reading in Part B.
