All that remains is the announcement. Tottenham have agreed to terminate the contract of Tanguy Ndombele early.

"Tottenham have agreed to pay Ndombele more than £5 million (about $9 billion) to terminate his contract 12 months early," Football Insider reported on Wednesday (KST), citing sources.

Ndombele is contracted to Spurs until June 2025. Spurs have been in talks with Ndombele for the past few months about an early release clause.

At the very least, the signing of Ndombele was a money-losing move. Tottenham signed Ndombele in July 2019 for a club-record £63 million ($115 million). It remains a club record that has yet to be broken.

Expectations were high. However, in two and a half seasons, the Frenchman only managed 10 goals and nine assists in 91 appearances. Mdombele was loaned to his hometown club Olympique Lyonnais for the second half of the 2021-2022 season.

For the 2022-2023 season, he moved back to Italian Serie A side Napoli. With Napoli, he reached the top of Serie A. However, after failing to secure a permanent move, he returned to Tottenham ahead of this season.

Tottenham's reasoning behind Ndombele's exit is his high weekly wages. He earns £200,000 a week, more than Son Heung-min. They're willing to sell him for £5 million plus £200,000 a week.

'Tottenham are expected to officially announce the parting of ways with Ndombele in the coming days,' added Football Insider.
