Revolut gets money by charging a small fee for each transaction. When you use your card to make a transaction, they will remove 5% of the total purchase amount (plus VAT) in addition to their 1% fee. This means that if you spend £100 on groceries, they will subtract £5 in fees and refund the remaining amount in cash. It's unusual for a bank to charge this much for using many cards at once, but it's not unprecedented!
